SEMA Spotlight: Building a Legacy

Legacy Innovations is busy making a name for itself.

Owner Troy Spackman is steadily growing his business formed in 2006 as a two-person operation, today a thriving shop that handles high-end custom car builds, as well as chassis design and fabrication, restorations and more. The hard-working crew does everything in house, from concept to implementation. From the start, it has partnered with ESAB for all its welding and cutting equipment requirements.

Legacy teams up with ESAB to spotlight its latest custom renovation at SEMA, November 4-7, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The annual show is a premier automotive specialty products trade-only event. Legacy has featured a car at SEMA for the past six years. Last year, Legacy’s 1958 Corvette was awarded the Goodguys’ Gold Bar Winner, one of five cars recognized out of a field of more than 1,000 show vehicles. The ’58 Corvette went on to capture first place at the Detroit Autorama, dubbed “America’s Greatest Hot Rod Show,” and was named the Goodguys’ Top 5 for Street Machine of the Year (SMOTY).

This year, ESAB will showcase a Legacy-renovated 1937 Ford. The car is an LSX powered Ford with Paddle Shifted 4L80 transmission, Schott Mod5 20x10” and 18x9” Billet 3-piece wheels. For the renovation, Legacy handled all necessary sheet metal fabrication, complete custom interior and upholstery, all vehicle assembly, and custom painting.

A number of ESAB products were used in the custom fabrication, including Heliarc® 281i AC/DC for TIG welding, Caddy® Mig C200i for MIG welding, PowerCut® 400  and PowerCut® 650 for manual plasma cutting, and Spoolarc 65 MIG wire and TIG rods, to name a few.

Legacy’s Troy Spackman, members of his team, as well as the car’s owners, will be on hand at the ESAB booth every day of the show to answer questions about the renovation project.
